Nell'ambito di un progetto organizzato da Dance&Culture per fidelizzare nuovo pubblico alla Danza e destare l' interesse dei giovani verso l'arte coreutica, studenti di vario ordine e grado sono stati invitati ad assistere a spettacoli di danza e scrivere una recensione per la nostra testata.
Questa è la recensione di Matteo Conti, iscritto al quarto liceo del Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele di Roma con frequenza per quest'anno scolastico in Canada, per lo spettacolo TORUK del Cirque du Soleil andato in scena a Winnipeg il 7/10/2016.

L'MTS Center di Winnipeg è gremito di persone per lo spettacolo "Toruk - The first flight", il nuovo spettacolo di Le Cirque du Soleil, inspirato dal film Avatar di James Cameron che ha debuttato il 5 ottobre in Canada, a Winnipeg, e che continuerà la sua tournè a Fresno, Ontario e Los Angeles.

Grande successo durante le prime date del tour a Winnipeg, gli spettatori sono in piedi, a fine spettacolo, per applaudire il cast. Sotto la direzione artistica di Guy Laliberté e di Jean-François Bouchard per Le Cirque du Soleil e James Cameron, Jon Landau, Kathy Franklin e Richie Baneham per Lightstorm Entertainement, società di produzione cinematografica che ha prodotto Avatar, lo spettacolo è il prequel della pellicola cinematografica ed è ambientato migliaia di anni prima dell'arrivo degli umani su Pandora. In seguito ad un evento naturale catastrofico, che minaccia la distruzione del sacro albero di Souls, Ralu ed Entu decidono di intraprendere un' viaggio nelle Montagne Galleggianti, per catturare Toruck, predatore che domina i cieli di Pandora, sola speranza per la salvezza del sacro albero di Souls. Per riuscire nell'ardua impresa avranno bisogno anche dell'aiuto della loro nuova amica Tsyal.

Per la prima volta Le Cirque du Soleil ha deciso di introdurre all'interno del proprio spettacolo un narratore che, molto frequentemente, è intervenuto durante lo spettacolo per raccontare e chiarire la storia.
Le coreografie dello spettacolo e le acrobazie, curate da Tuan Le e Tan Loc, sono mozzafiato ed a forte impatto visivo e tendono sempre a stupefare lo spettatore grazie ad un mix di movimento e colori, riuscendo a conciliare lo stile acrobatico di Le cirque du soleil allo stile di vita dei Na'vi,nel loro habitat naturale, il popolo raccontato nel film. In nessun momento dello spettacolo i personaggi camminavano e basta. Gli spostamenti sono tutti acrobatici, dalla semplice camminata, all'inseguimento fino agli acrobati aerei che, con i loro tessuti, si arrotolavano fino in cima per poi srotolarsi tutto d'un colpo fino ad arrivare a pochi metri da terra, con una maestria ed una disinvoltura sconvolgente.

Le musiche, realizzate appositamente per lo spettacolo da Jacques Boucher, sono arricchite dalla presenza di veri percussionisti che, durante lo spettacolo, fanno un ingresso ad effetto, tirati in alto verso dei tamburi sospesi per suonarli in aria, e da una cantante che si esibisce (cantante e canta insieme è cacofonico) dal vivo verso la fine dello spettacolo.
Carl Fillion è riuscito a fare un ottimo lavoro nel riprodurre il paesaggio di Pandoro nello spettacolo.
La scenografia è sorprendentemente convertibile e trasporta idealmente lo spettatore da un'isola circondata da acqua ad una foresta fiorita, fino ad un pianura inondata da lava. Tutto questo grazie alla presenza di luci che proiettano sulla scenografia i differenti habitat in cui si svolgono le scene, riuscendo perfino a riprodurre l'effetto di un terremoto e di un’inondazione.

Le Cirque du Solei ha deciso di rendere interattivo lo spettacolo coinvolgendo gli spettatori e rendendoli attivi nello spettacolo: grazie ad un’apposita applicazione durante lo spettacolo era possibile ricevere una notifica che invitava a posizionare il proprio cellulare verso la scena, in modo da diventare parte della scenografia; sullo schermo di ogni telefonino potevano apparire gli occhi di animali feroci durante un inseguimento o una miriade di flash per riprodurre l'effetto di un impressionante temporale.
Gli animali utilizzati durante lo spettacolo erano molto ben realizzati: ognuno guidato da un tecnico, ben mimetizzato dall’abito nero, per animarlo e dotato di un microfono per far si che il movimento ed i versi dell'animale fossero sincronizzati.
E’ uno spettacolo che fa sognare e fa scordare per 2 ore del mondo reale, un meraviglioso show che ti trasporta in un luogo fantastico, pieno di luci, colori e incredibili (c’era un doppio fantastico) effetti speciali, e che riesce, con grande maestria, a farti tornare bambino.

In a project organized by Dance&Culture to create new public for Dance shows and raise interest in kids towards Choreutic Art, some students have been invited to watch dance shows to write a review for our website.
This is Matteo Conti's piece for the show TORUK by Cirque du Soleil on stage in Winnipeg, 7/10/2016. Matteo is student attending the fourth year high school at Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele of Rome.
TORUK - The first flight

The MTS Center of Winnipeg is full of peoples for the show "Toruck - The first flight", the new show of the Cirque du Soleil, inspired by the movie Avatar, directed by James Cameron. The show has been on stage for the first time on the 5th October in Winnipeg, Canada, and the tour will continue in Fresno, Ontario and Los Angeles.
The first date of the tour in Winnipeg has been a big success, the spectators, at the end of the show, stood up and applauded the cast. The show is guided by Guy Laliberté and Jean-François Bouchard pour le Cirque du Soleil and by James Cameron, Jon Landau, Kathy Franklin and Richie Banehamm for Lightstorm Entertainment (film production company, that had produced Avatar). The show is the prequel of the movie and is set thousands of years before the arrival of the humans on Pandora. Because of a catastrophic natural event, that threat the destruction of the sacred Tree of Souls, Ralu and Entu decide to travel through the Floating Mountains to catch Toruk, the predator who rules the Pandoran sky. This is their only hope in order to save the sacred Tree of Souls. To succeed in the dangerous trip, they need the help of their new friend Tsyal.
For the first time Le Cirque du Soleil has decided to introduce a storyteller in the show to narrate and clarifie the development of story.

The choreographies and the acrobatics, made by Tuan Le and Tan Loc, are breathtaking and have a major visual impact. What’s more, they tend to surprise the spectator with a mix of movements and colours, succeeding to combine the acrobatic style of Le Cirque du Soleil and the life style of the Na'vi, the population of the film, in their natural habitat. The characters never just walk during the show: the movements are always acrobatic, up to the aerial acrobatics that, with their tissues, roll up until the top and then unroll up to a few meters from the ground, with a craftsmanship and confidence upsetting.
The music, especially created for the show by Jacques Boucher, is enriched by the presence of real drummers who, during the show, make an impressive entrance, pulled up at their drums to play suspended in the air, plus a woman singer who performs live at the end of the show.

Carl Fillion has done a great job in reproducing the Pandora landscape in the show.
The set design is surprisingly convertible and transports the viewer from an island surrounded by water to a flower-filled forest, up to a plain flooded by lava. All of this, thanks to the lights that project on setting the different habitats. They can even reproduce the effect of an earthquake and of a flood!
The Cirque du Solei has decided to make the show interacting, involving the audience, and making them act in the show: thanks to a special application, during the show it was possible to receive a notification that invited the public to position cellular phones toward the scene, to become part of the set; on the screen of every mobile phone appeared the eyes of predators during the pursuit or a thousands of flash to reproduce the effects of an impressive thunderstorm.

The ‘animals’ created for the show were very well made: each one was moved by a technician, well camouflaged thanks to a black dress, and each puppet had his own microphone to ensure that the his movement and the verses were synchronized.
This is, really, a show that, for two hours time, makes you dream and makes you forget of the real world. A wonderful show that transports you to a fantastic place, full of lights, colours and incredible special effects, who can, with most skilfully, make you child again.
